Unredirect

Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

Unredirect is a Safari Web Extension (iOS + macOS) that rewrites redirect-middleman links so you go straight to the destination. Privacy is the product: the extension and its host app collect no personal information, upload no browsing data, and make no network calls.

What we collect

  • We collect no personal information.
  • We do not use cookies, analytics tools, or third-party tracking SDKs.
  • We do not operate any servers.

What the extension does in your browser

  • While you browse, the extension matches links against bundled redirect rules and rewrites redirect URLs to their destination locally.
  • All rules are shipped inside the extension package. Nothing is downloaded or reported at runtime.
  • The extension makes no outbound network requests.

Local storage

  • Your preferences (rule toggles, opt-in to hit counts) are stored in the Safari extension's local storage.
  • If you opt in to hit statistics, counts live on your device and are shared between the extension and its host app via the macOS/iOS App Group. They never leave your device.
  • Uninstalling the app removes all local data via the OS.

Permissions

  • host_permissions: <all_urls> — required so the extension can read and rewrite redirect links on any site you visit.
  • storage — used for your preferences and (optional) hit counts.
  • webNavigation — used to detect redirect URLs before navigation completes.
  • nativeMessaging — used so the extension and host app can exchange settings and stats locally. All messaging stays on-device.

Third parties

  • Unredirect does not share data with any third party, because we hold no data to share.

Children's privacy

  • Unredirect is not directed to children under 13, and we collect no user information from anyone regardless of age.

Changes

  • If this policy changes materially, the update will appear in the App Store release notes and on this page.
